Birds of the Wairarapa and where to see them
Greytown Park

This gem of a park is tucked away off the main street of Greytown. A piece of native bush has persisted here despite the best intentions of schoolboys, overzealous parks staff and well-meaning but misguided councils. This is one of the few places in the region where you can see New Zealand Pigeon so close to an urban area. Other bush birds can be watched here too.

The Greytown Park consists of native and exotic bush, playing fields and camping ground. It provides a good picnic area and an opportunity to see most of our urban birds.
