The Ruamahanga River is one of the defining landmarks of the region and here near Gladstone where the road bridge crosses, you will find Black-fronted Dotterel, Banded Dotterel, and Pied Stilt out on the shingle beds. While you are out this way, take some time to explore the sideroads and take in a little of the unique community.
