Birds of the Wairarapa and where to see them
Lake Ferry and Palliser Bay

Lake Ferry provides the naturalist with an excellent starting point for explorations of coastal habitats and affords very good pelagic seabird viewing opportunities provided you have a good telescope.

Ironically, perhaps, the soaring cliffs behind the bay afford the patient birdwatcher with views of New Zealand Falcon, more often associated with forested valleys. Exploration of the forested ravines which run to the beach is worthwhile for other forest birds.
